Polemonium boreale M.F. Adams
Not boreale - Identification uncertain

P. boreale has white anthers. This may be Polemonium boreale M.F. Adams var. villosissimum Hultén,
now known as Polemonium villosissimum (hultén) d.f. murray & elven which has yellow anthers or
it may be a high elevation variant of the highly variable P. acutiflorum which also has yellow anthers.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


1.  Late June.  Upper section of plant after
stem has elongated with age.
Not the lower clusters on long pedicels



2.  Mid-June.  Basal leaves.





3.  Early June.  Basal leaves with stem.  Note
the transparent sheath on the upper
stem.



4.  Mid-June.  Terminal cluster of buds.





5.  Mid-June.  Another terminal cluster of
buds.  With age the entire stem will elongate
separating the single cluster into several.



6.  Mid-June.  Entire exposed plant with
buds beginning to open.




7.  Early June.  Opening bud with only the
anthers showing.
